Moab 2016

This blog began as a type of travelogue, and was hopefully going to document our world travels. We DO have an international trip coming up (yay!) but first here's a record of our traditional, closer-to-home travel. Moab, UT is a fantastic place for outdoor activities, be that porch-sitting or canyoneering. It's a family tradition (thank you, Grandma and Grandpa Fuller) to participate in their Spring 5-mile/Half marathon race and then head to Arches National Park, the La Sal mountain range, or any number of lesser-known hiking/site-seeing spots.

The Death of Friendship

A friend sent me this article, and I found myself wanting to discuss is with a bunch of people in my life (I mostly ended up staying up late talked with my husband about it, so hopefully this blog post will help me spread out my dialogue a bit more).

I'm interested in the opinions of those who read this and find holes in her points. Or opinions who supply unmentioned supporting arguments for her train of thought. As I read through the article I had an overall feeling of "yes, exactly what I was thinking!" but found a lot in her voice and attitude not syncing with my view of the world, and some of her points (like that mentioned-but-unsupported Gallup poll about the increasing number of Americans identifying as gay) are not precisely on.

Basically, help me think through this concept. This lost art and inherent need of phileo. This is the first article I've found that has attempted to articulate thoughts I had when reading C.S. Lewis' phileo argument.

I like the idea of having more love to go around.

Snow fun

Yet another year passes and I failed to get my kids out on a sled, whooshing down a hill (although their Uncle Boston obligingly built a five foot tall snow slide in the back yard over new years--awesome!)

But we did get a  few fun snow days in. And we started teaching Rosie how to cross-country ski! She had a a much more positive experience than her dad recalls having as a young kid.

Thanks Dustin's work for the free passes to Sundance for an afternoon date of downhill funness!

Okay, winter, thanks for the fun--we-re ready for spring now.

California Beach time

Sara's first time at the beach! And the first time Rosie really remembers. This is from our awesome Disneyland trip in February. I LOVE the beach!
